Out of Bounds Photo Effect

19 January 2010

When I saw Out of Bounds effect on a photo for the first time, I was awestruck and impressed. I was new to Phootoshop and was excited to try it myself as well. There was also a OOB contest, so that was also one of the reason to really try it. Below you will see the Out of Bound Photo Effect that I did long time ago!

Edit: May 2.2010

Recently again I was in a mood to create Out of Bounds Effect and here are the couple of OOBs I created:

Testing and Trying Disqus Commenting System (Edit)

30 July 2009

Well, I am testing the Disqus Commenting System for my blog, if everything works fine, I will be using it henceforth. Blogger's default commenting system is something that I don't really like much and I really wish they change and improvise it!

There are some other third party commenting systems like, Intense Debate and JS-Kit, but I finally chose Disqus. I think it is cool, the only disadvantage with Disqus that I found is: if you remove it or decide not to use it all the comments (given to you whilst using this system) also disappears, I hope Disqus finds out some workaround for that too.

Anyways, let's see how it works!

Edit:

As you might notice, I have removed Disqus after using it for couple of days. Although, it is far more better than Blogger's commenting system, it has a limitation as I have mentioned above, that is your comments would disappear if you decide not to use it.

Secondly, couple of days that I used it, there was a problem with Disqus's server (tweet), it was down for half an hour and not only the comment box but all the comments disappeared, so I just thought, what if there server had a major problem? I just feel, it is not a good idea to use it with Blogger/blogspot blogs because the comments are not sync and saved locally like they have with Wordpress. I just think, it is not a good idea, to have somebody else have control over your blog's comment. I just hope, Blogger improves it's default commenting system!

Fresh and Promising...

01 April 2009

Just had to write this post as I am so excited to find my  lil blog being listed as 30 Fresh and Promising Blogs To Follow by Six Revisions. It is such a honor to be listed by such a fantastic weblog which I have been reading for a long time and going back for more. It is a thrill to be listed along with other blogs some of them are already a huge name. Quite thankful to Jacob Gube for putting this together.

This recognition was particularly important to me because somewhere down the line I often ask myself if I am investing my time productively or am I on the right track with my blog cause of late there are so many design blogs and so much of brilliant information scattered all around.  I am sure those who writes blog might have gone through the similar questions one or the other times, cause knowing about certain things is one thing and writing and expressing about it  is a bit different (though related) thing. It is only the passion (-passion to explore, learn and share) for design and arts which is a driving force.

I have a vision where I want to take my blog towards,  so I hope to fulfill that. Basically, I want my blog to retain a playful nature, have a surprising factor, so that it doesn't become monotonous and  remain informative at the same time (along with making mistakes, breaking rules and having fun of course).  To share with my readers something that I discovered, something that I learned and at the same time learning from them as well!  To me the best part of designing is: I am enjoying what I am doing, so everything is totally a exciting experience!

Ah, when I am talking about my glories (haha), last month, a Photoshop tutorial that I wrote for a other site was one of the  50 Stunning Photoshop Text Effect Tutorials suggested by mighty Smashing Magazine.

Also, was listed on a website CSSWOW . Apart from that many people keeps giving me the compliments for my blog especially, the header graphic and the overall looks, feels good! Though, personally I want to fix many of the things on my blog from design point of view but certain things are a bit difficult being on the Blogger platform, but those are the things about to change. it is just the matter of time.

One of the best part of being on internet is you can shout on the roof top about your small or big achievements without blushing or worrying if anybody is laughing at you so Yo! maybe time permitting,  I might make a whole list of my blog or any of it's post being linked elsewhere, as a way to say thanks! :)

What is it about Designing or Art ...

14 March 2009

So few day back, (okay maybe a month) I asked people who follow me on Twitter  a question:

I just thought I should make a blog post out of all the replies that I got. It is so cool to know, what is it about our passion to art and design that we like most and given the fact that you have to reply within 140 words limit, all the relies were awesome!   I wanted to post this earlier, but somehow got delayed, it also has to do with me being a die hard procrastinator! So, here you go...

By @Fitzillo  (www)

The initial sketching part I like the best... something about raw pencil drawings.

By @JeremyOLED  (www)

The realization of my thoughts. Creation... essentially, feeling like a god :P

By @moritzangermann  (www)

 I like the experience.

By @loopix

What I like the most is that it adjusts to your mood, so it's like an outlet to what your feeling at the moment. Expression!

By @Mercydesign

I love the playing, sitting and working with something until I have that AHA moment, when I know that it's perfect (or as close as I can get it) I've never found perfection, which is also part of the fun ;)

By @LoraineA  (www)

Art and design give me pause, cause to question, I often wonder about the artist, what they felt, how the piece makes me feel.

And, last but not the least my dear friend,
By @ginkgografix  (www)

Everything! the combination of colors, content and the way to spread a certain message!
And, finally, you might ask what about me? Well,  the best thing I like about designing is that I completely get immersed into what I am doing, something like a meditation-being in the moment and cherishing it! I like the process, the journey from visualization to seeing something on the artboard which before that was just a thought!

So what is it about YOU? What do you like most about designing, art or creativity? I know now my lil blog has enough feed readers, so please don't be strangers,  I would love to hear what you have to say!! :) And, of course thanks to all the twitterers who participated, hope to hear more from you.

And, now finally, some Twitter fun! I found this hilarious image while browsing! Totally made me change the Twitter icon that I was using which said, Follow me on Twitter! mwhahaaa!!

Some New Thoughts

07 February 2009

Okay maybe not entirely a "new" thought, but I have no idea for a title at the moment and what I am gonna say is new for my blog! - I just had this thought yesterday and I am all set to execute that idea, so starting with next post, I will be regularly featuring artist whose works are truly inspirational and leaves me mesmerized with the sheer quality of there creativity!

Ironically, I started writing this blog because I wanted to share my thoughts and talk about art(and that's why the name dezign "Musings"), not only digital art but also traditional art, poetry, prose and any other medias through which so many talented artists express there creativity, but somewhere in-between I lost my focus and have only posted about graphic design and digital arts (which no doubt are my area, but I am extremely fond of other art medias as well) and I don't want my blog to be just about writing tutorials or tips or about sharing graphic resources. And, above all this is my personal blog and I don't want it to be like a tutorial blog, but a blog where I can express my thoughts on creativity without any pride or prejudice (I have some more ideas but it is a bit early to say more at the moment).

No doubt short tutorials/tips and graphic chats will be a important part of my blog; on and off I will be also featuring artists from all walks of life whom I discover whilst my internet journey. So often, I stumble upon so many cool artists, maybe not out and out digital artist, maybe not so famous but still having there very own fan following, there very own loyal clients and there very own area of expertise. Just observing the works of this artists can be so inspirational and a learning experience in itself.

And, who as a artist does not know about "creativity block or designer's block"?....personally for me inspiration comes from sometimes observing the works of fellow designers and sometimes from completely different areas, sometimes just reading something or sometimes a picture in magazine or sometimes music and sometimes a beautiful poetry or a photograph!

And, like Erik Adigard aptly says,

Design is in everything we make, but it’s also between those things. It’s a mix of craft, science, storytelling, propaganda, and philosophy.
So yes lets muse about all things creative! And, I would love to hear your thoughts about the same.

Twitter, Feedburner and Stuffs.....

23 January 2009

I have kind of jumped in and joined the bandwagon, yeah I recently made a new Twitter account. I had known about it since a long time now, but only made a account recently, to know what all it is about! I am still exploring it, I feel it is too noisy at least that is what my initial impression is! Anyways, if you're a Twitter user, you can add me, I will be posting some cool off site links, like good tutorials, freebies or just a nice piece of art or graphic design that I discover. It becomes easy to share such stuffs in a microblogging platform like that of Twitter. I will be also updating there about new posts that I write on other blogs as well!

Those who have blogs or websites with RSS feeds, might be knowing about Google taking over of Feedburner. So if you have not yet transferred your feed to Google, you should now. Personally, for me it was a smooth transfer. I also updated my RSS button links and stuffs as well!

Though, I heard some weird stories from other bloggers losing all there readers/feed count etc. haha!!

Other than that, I have been really slow on updating my blog, I get caught up in works and stuffs, but I hope to write some cool tutorials, tips soonish!

I have also added a new header to my blog, let me know what you think about it! Although, I am still looking for some cool theme for my blog which I can adapt and play around with its CSS, to make it more appealing and add some personal touch to it!

Genius, Power & Magic

26 November 2008

Just read this beautiful & inspiring word & thought to share it with whoever wants to read this! The name of the author is, W. H. Murray.

Until one is committed there is always hesitancy,
the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness,
there is one elementary truth,
the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans:
the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too.
All sorts of things occur to help that would never otherwise have occurred.
A whole stream of events issues from the decision,
Raising to one’s favor all manner of unforeseen accidents and meetings
And material assistance which no man could have dreamed
Would come his way.
Whatever you can do or dream you can begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.

Co-incidently, currently I am reading a book named The Secret by Rhonda Byrne which also emphasizes on the thoughts expressed above!

I really admire the writers/authors or for that matter anybody who has this power to convey powerful thoughts through words that could inspire & motivate others or in some way touch directly to the heart within.

Hmm apart from this, well I know I real lag in updating my blog, I kind of get occupied, but I think, I should not ignore this my little piece of web!!

P.S: I have installed this lil Firefox addon named, Scribefire a couple of months back, i really like how it works & you don't have to even log in to your blog to write or publish stuffs, works kinda smooth, I wonder, why I didn't know about it earlier!! If you're a blogger, you gotta check it out!

This v/s That arghhhhh.............

27 July 2008

So, this is after a long time that I am updating my blog, perhaps this is the first post after migrating from my previous wordpress blog (& have not still managed to import comments from that blog :( ), yes & that is the cause of dilemma!! I had kind of stuck between whether to use wordpress or blogger & of course I mean the free ones.

Both of them have there own merits & demerits, like the main demerit from my point of view for wordpress is that you can't edit the CSS, that means you have to use selected few themes available & thats it, I like to experiment with blog skins & I like to change it till I find its most suitable to my likes & dislikes!! Secondly, you don't have access to adsense on wordpress, not that I want to install adsense on my blog, but you like to be given a option, right?!!

Now demerits of blogger's is..... you don't have a integrated Blog Stats feature, you have to rely on third party stuffs, comments are not embedded, importing/exporting a blog  plus a few more stuffs like you have   no post break feature (though for which I can easily edit the CSS) BUT, from what I read at the Blogger Buzz, the above mentioned demerits are going to be fixed, also they are gonna integrate stats with google analytics, so I think, that should be cool & makes me stick to here!! :D
Though, I think, if I upgrade, I may probably switch to wordpress-perhaps!!

Anyways, I am on look out for a customizable blog template, would like to change the header graphics & stuffs but probably will postpone it till the beta becomes final!!
